My DS has been sick wth a head cold for about a week now and the worst part ofi t has been his inability to sleep well.  He wakes often during the night and it takes him quite awhile to get to sleep because his coughing continues to wake him up.

So far we've tried vapor rub on his chest and feet, the vapor outlet plug in (which has helped quite a bit), rocking him upright for awhile to calm his coughing, and Lithy Tree to help with the coughing.

I guess I'm just interested in what other mothers have found works for their babes.

The daycare lets Trevor take a nap in the high chair in a reclined position.  That won't help you at night necessarily, but it might help him rest better during the day.  You could try letting him sleep on a pillow or elevating one end of the mattress with something as long as it's stable.  Good luck.

I slept in the recliner, reclined only a tad bit, with my oldest daughter when she was suffering from a chest cold and sinus infection and it really seemed to help.  I think between sitting almost fully upright and cuddling with Mommy made her feel so much more comfortable.

I hope your son feels better soon...there's nothing worse than seeing a child suffer when they are feeling under the weather!

We also sleep with Austin inclined as we rock or sometimes between us elevated on pillows.  He seems to need to be closer to us and as elevated as possible when he's sick.

Thank you all for the feedback.  I think he's slowly getting better and the one thing I've found that really does help is the Vicks vapor plug ins and a warm bath with eucalyptus bath salts.  :)

It is hard seeing your baby sick.  To add to it all, both my husband and myself have also gotten colds this week.  Yuck!
